Full Cord Bluegrass wsg Strange Country

Full Cord started as a project between band members upright bass player Todd Kirchner & guitar/mando player Eric Langejans. Soon after, Danny Seabolt, fiddler extraordinaire and luthier joined the band. The newest members are Brian Oberlin on mandolin (formerly of Grasshoppah) and Alex Johnson on resophonic guitar (formerly of Fauxgrass). All seasoned bluegrass musicians they wanted to build a musically diverse band using traditional bluegrass instruments.

The band has an extraordinary song base, with songs ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to modern pop hits, big band era tunes and everything in between (and we do mean everything!). With hundreds of songs in their repertoire, they never run out of songs to choose from.

Strange Country: Pete Weir, Mike List & Jeremy Rilko

Homegrown in Kalamazoo Presents: Jonathan Moody

We are pleased to introduce a new phase of Homegrown in Kalamazoo, Homegrown in Kalamazoo Presents!

In this new configuration of Homegrown in Kalamazoo, we will be featuring local musicians from 8-10pm.

Homegrown is:

Homegrown in Kalamazoo is dedicated to the performance growth of working musicians.

Our mission is to strive to support each other in continuing to sharpen our collective and individual crafts as whole performers, which includes stage presence, vocal techniques, songwriting, choosing covers that fit, crowd engagement and working out any other little glitches that occur on stage!

The musicians who are a part of the Homegrown believe in the spirit of building each other up as artists, so we can feel more confident in our abilities each time we perform.

As part of our new series, "Homegrown Presents," we will be featuring acts that embody this philosophy, both personally and as leaders of the musical community in reaching out to others to provide support and encouragement.

This week, we are proud to spotlight bassist extraordinaire, Jonathan Moody!

Big Dudee Roo wsg Phil Barry

This Earthwork Collective, Michigan-based band has been described as:

"The oft-psychedelic, Neil Young-styled folk rock...oozes an endearing, political charm." (Grand Rapids Press)

"Big Dudee Roo is committed to rock and roll, and the making of it. Started by high school friends Justin Dore (guitar), Max Lockwood (bass, vocals), and Nate Wagner (guitar) in a small town in West Michigan, and now with the addition of Daine Hammerle (drums), the band has matured into a powerhouse of driving rhythms, heavy guitars, and thoughtful, poetic lyricism. Their latest releases, called Heavy Dudee / Dudee Free, showcase the strength present in their current four-piece form. Combining the raw energy of Crazy Horse with the polish of Pearl Jam and Tom Petty, Big Dudee Roo has become a musical mainstay in the state of Michigan.

Phil Barry’s Electric Band will open the show!

Here's how it works:

Each musician/band who signs up to play is encouraged to share their journey both on stage and off. Questions to consider are: When you began playing, how you learned, why you perform live and what your goals are. All are welcome to offer their wisdom with constructive feedback, which we can share together at the end of the night during our round-table style workshop.

Sound is provided by Erik Sebastian, which includes monitors, microphes and a direct inputs for instruments.
